Cool community-based cooperative/non-profits?

I'm looking for info on the best environmentally/socially-related, community-based cooperatives or non-profits in Montreal. Yah, this is broad, I know. But I would love to know what people have heard of, are a member of, are interested in, and more. It is great to know our city from the inside out, so I need your help!

The Urban Ecology Center on Parc is great! It offers lots of information on composting, rooftop and patio gardening, and more! I have to go back to get more info, but it is a really nice center. There are a whole bunch of reports available on the above topics, so if you are contemplating growing your own tomatoes or herbs, starting a compost, or are interested in the political and social aspects of urban ecology, this is the place to go!
